Searching the database by hand
The Sourcing page: search Tenure's database yourself, pick the people you want, and message them with reach-out credits.
A run does the searching for you. When you would rather look yourself, the Sourcing page is Tenure's database open to you: search it, read the people it finds, and message the ones you choose.
Searching
Type a profession, a specialty, or any keyword from a bio, a name, or a location. Under the search box, say where: start typing a city or a ZIP code in Near, pick it from the list, and choose how far from it to look, from 5 to 100 miles (10 until you change it). Results are the people who live within that distance, nearest first, and each card shows the miles to the person in its top corner; when you have also typed something to search for, the closest match to your words comes first and distance decides between equal matches. Someone whose record has no location Tenure can place on the map is left out of a search with a location, however far you look. Clear Near to include them. Then narrow by Profession, Specialty and Known license in. For a remote role, use Known license in: it finds people who hold a licence in that state wherever they live. Pick several states to find anyone licensed in at least one of them. The specialty list is alphabetical, and you can pick more than one. The field shows the first two you chose and a count of the rest; open the list to see them all at the top, untick any, or use Clear all. The search runs once you pause typing, so you can finish a word before the results change. While it runs, the current results fade back and a note reads Updating results. When the new results arrive they rise into place from the top of the list, and the frame and the result count are briefly highlighted. If you make a typo, Tenure searches the nearest match and says so above the results.
The second row narrows further:
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Contact status | Who your company has written to: Not yet contacted, Contacted, no reply yet, Replied interested, or Declined. Choose Not yet contacted to keep a fresh list |
| Board certification | People whose CV lists a board certification, or people whose CV does not |
| Certifications | Any of ACLS, BLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP, DEA registration or ECFMG, or type another. A person matches if they hold any one of them |
Under those, tick Only candidates with a CV to leave out people Tenure holds no CV for, so every result has a career to read.
Clear filters above the panel removes every filter at once and keeps your search words. Your search words and filters stay put when you refresh or come back to the page, including from a candidate's page that opened in its own tab.
Making room for the results
The arrow button at the top right of the panel folds it to one line that says what you searched for and which filters are on, so the results get the window. With no search words, the line lists the filters alone. The same button brings it back, and Tenure remembers your choice in this browser.
Results come ten to a page, one card per person. The cards scroll inside their own frame, so the search box and filters stay in view while you read, and Next takes you to the top of the following ten. Changing your search words or any filter starts again from the first page.
Each card shows what you need to decide whether to write to someone: their profession, specialty and location, their years in practice, their current or most recent role, a few highlights from their CV, their known licenses, and their certifications. Years in practice are counted from the year the person qualified in their profession, or from the year they were first licensed when there is no CV to go by, and shown with a plus sign ("11+ years"), since the exact year is not always known. Someone in their first year shows "Less than a year in practice". The highlights are drawn from whatever the CV offers: training when it lists it, earlier roles when it does not, and the CV's own opening lines otherwise. When you search by keyword, the card also shows the passage of the CV that matched, under Matched in CV. Known licenses appear when the candidate's record or CV lists some. A candidate with no CV on file shows their profession, location, years in practice and known licenses. Anything Tenure has nothing for shows a dash.
A quick look at someone
Select a card to open the person beside the results. The panel lists their known licenses, certifications, every position, and their training and education. When a CV does not set its positions and training out in a way Tenure can list, the panel shows the same highlights as the card instead. The list stays where it was, so you can move from one person to the next. Esc or the close button shuts the panel.
Known licenses are the licences the person is recorded as holding, one badge for each state and kind of licence, the state named above the kind: a nurse practitioner who also keeps a nursing licence shows both, Florida APRN and Florida RN. Each badge gives the months the licence was issued and runs to, when they are known, like 01/2021 - 07/2028. It does not say whether the licence is active today. The dates are the ones on record when the licence was added, and licences are renewed, so a date in the past does not mean the licence has lapsed. Confirm a licence is current with the state board before you rely on it.
Reading a CV
View candidate details opens the person's own page in a new tab, so your search stays where it was. Their CV is there, under the same career details. A candidate with no CV on file has no such link, on the card or in the panel, because there is nothing more on their page to read. Their card still opens the panel, which shows their known licenses and says No CV on file for this candidate. You can still write to them with Reach out on the card.
The CV is laid out for reading, in the candidate's own words. It has contact details and references removed: no email address, phone number, street address, link, or referee. Contact details unlock when the person replies interested, and appear on their record. A CV that was added recently may show "This CV is being processed and validated. It will appear shortly."
Messaging from a candidate's page
A candidate's page has Message candidate at the top, which opens the message form in its own tab. Choose a role to send with it, write a subject and a message, and send; it goes by email through Tenure and is kept under the Activity tab.
Beside the form, What they will receive shows the email as the candidate will see it, with the sender name, the subject line, and the buttons they reply with. It updates as you type. Tenure's email opens with its own greeting and a line saying who wrote, so read the preview before you send to see how your message sits under it.
Under the message, the form says what sending uses: one reach-out credit, and how many you have left.
The form is replaced by a short explanation when a message cannot be sent: your team wrote to the person in the last 7 days (it gives the date you can write again), or they asked not to be contacted.
Confirm a licence is current with the state board before you rely on it.
A CV that was added recently may show "This CV is being processed and validated. It will appear shortly." The career details above it are available straight away.
The CV you read here has contact details and references removed: no email address, phone number, street address, link, or referee. Contact details unlock when the person replies interested, and appear on their record. Two labels tell you where you stand with them: In your pool for someone who has already applied or replied interested (their contact details and NPI are on their record), and On cooldown for someone your account messaged in the last 7 days.
Messaging
Tick the people you want and click Message, or use Message on one card. Write one message for everyone you selected, with an optional subject line. It is sent through Tenure, and every send is recorded in your contacts so nobody is messaged twice.
Messages from the database use reach-out credits: one per person. Your balance and where to buy more are under Settings → Billing. Board passes use no credits. See Billing and seats.
When someone replies
An interested reply unlocks the person's contact details for your account and notifies you at once, the same as a reply to a run. See Interested candidates.
Do-not-contact
The list that every run honours sits beside the search, under Sourcing → Do-not-contact. See Do-not-contact.
