Using a job description
Paste or upload a job description when you add a role, and Tenure reads the title, the location, and the facts that sell it into the role.
Most roles already have a job description. Rather than retyping it, give it to Tenure when you add the role.
Paste or upload
When you add or edit a role, choose Upload a file or Paste the text at the top of the form. Files can be PDF, Word (.docx), or plain text, up to 5 MB. Drop the file on the box or click to choose it. For pasted text, paste the whole posting and click Read the description.
What Tenure fills in
Tenure reads the description and fills any field you have not typed yet: the role title, profession, specialty, location, pay, schedule, and what makes it worth a reply. Fields you already filled are left as you wrote them, and a note tells you which ones were filled. Check them; they are yours to change.
What the description is used for
The full text stays with the role, shown as a chip with the file name and word count, and goes with every run for that role.
- The database search reads every requirement in it, not just the summary.
- Generate with AI writes the message from the description and the role together, so pay, bonuses, and start dates in the posting make it into the message.
- Tenure's sourcing technology reads it when working your job boards.
It is never sent in the email. Remove the chip and save the role to detach it.
Files Tenure cannot read
An older Word file (.doc) or a scanned PDF with no text layer cannot be read. Save it as .docx or PDF from the original, or paste the text instead.
Prefer plain text? This page is also at /documentation/sourcing/job-descriptions.md.
